De La Salle JRLFC - A cornerstone of community sport in the Sutherland Shire.

For more than sixty years, De La Salle Caringbah Junior Rugby League Football Club has been a cornerstone of community sport in the Sutherland Shire. 

Established in 1962 by brothers from De La Salle College, the club was founded with a simple but powerful goal: to support the local community by engaging young people in rugby league while fostering discipline, teamwork and lifelong friendships. 

Today, that vision has grown into a thriving and inclusive sporting community. De La Salle Caringbah JRLFC welcomes boys, girls, men and women to participate in rugby league and league tag in an environment that prioritises development, connection and belonging. 

At its core, the club is about far more than sport. Through structured player pathways, junior development programs and safe, well-run competition, De La Salle provides young people with opportunities to grow both on and off the field. The club places strong emphasis on inclusion and safeguarding children, ensuring that players develop not only physical skills but also confidence, resilience and teamwork.

The impact of this approach is significant. Participation in the club supports physical health, mental wellbeing and meaningful youth engagement, while creating a supportive environment where families and players feel connected to their community. 

With around 70 teams and approximately 1,000 players, De La Salle Caringbah JRLFC has become one of the region’s most active junior rugby league clubs. Behind that success is a dedicated network of volunteers, coaches and supporters who contribute countless hours to ensure the club continues to thrive.

One example of the club’s community spirit is its Community Fireworks Night, which recently brought together players, families and local residents for a memorable evening at the club’s home ground. The event not only strengthened local connections but also raised funds that were reinvested directly into junior development, equipment and player wellbeing initiatives. 

As the club has grown, strong governance and operational systems have become increasingly important.
